Frequently asked questions
The questions owners ask us first. If yours is not here, write to ola@luvivo.pt.
General
Are Luvivo supplements medicines?
No. They are complementary feeds for dogs under Reg. (EC) No 767/2009. They do not prevent, treat or cure disease and do not replace veterinary care.
Do they contain CBD, hemp or melatonin?
No. None of these substances is authorised in animal feed in the European Union. Anyone selling them for dogs in the EU is outside the law.
Where are they made?
In a certified facility in the European Union, approved as a feed business operator in its country. The label identifies Luvivo as responsible for the product, under Article 12 of Reg. 767/2009.
How do I know the right dose for my dog?
Every pack carries a table by weight band: up to 10 kg, 1 chew; 10–25 kg, 2; 25–40 kg, 3; over 40 kg, 4. The same table is published on each product page.
From what age?
From 6 months, with the dose calculated by weight. For pregnant bitches or animals under medication, consult your vet first.
Can I combine two formulas?
Yes, they were designed for it — for example Calm with Digestion, or Multi with a specific formula. The exception is Joints with Joints Advanced: choose only one, because Advanced already contains the base.
How long until it works?
It depends on the formula. Joints and Skin & Coat are for continued use — the literature talks about 4 to 8 weeks. Calm can be started 2 to 3 days before a predictable event.
What if my dog does not like it?
They are soft chews flavoured with chicken, duck, turkey or salmon — the format exists precisely because most dogs eat them willingly. If it still does not work, write to us.
How should I store them?
In a cool, dry place away from light, with the pack well closed. No refrigeration needed.
How much is shipping?
CTT in 24–48 working hours for €3.90, free on orders over €35.
Calm →
Will my dog get drowsy?
That is not what the formula is for. It contains no sedatives, no CBD and no melatonin — none of these is authorised in animal feed in the EU. The ingredients are amino acids and botanicals used to support relaxation.
How long before fireworks should I start?
We recommend 2 to 3 days before, keeping the daily dose through the period of higher agitation. For day-to-day stress, use is continuous.
Can I combine it with another Luvivo supplement?
Yes. The formulas were designed to be combinable — for example Calm with Digestion. Respect the daily dose of each.
Is it suitable for puppies?
The dose is calculated by weight and applies from 6 months of age. For pregnant bitches or animals under medication, consult your vet first.
Joints →
How long until I see a difference?
Ingredients in this category are for continued use — the literature typically talks about 4 to 8 weeks of daily administration. This is not an immediate-effect product.
What is the difference from the Advanced formula?
Advanced adds undenatured type II collagen and hyaluronic acid, brings 120 chews instead of 90, and is designed for senior or large-breed dogs.
Does it replace my vet's medication?
No. It is a complementary feed, not a medicine, and does not replace any prescribed treatment. If your dog is under medication, speak to your vet first.
My dog spits out tablets. Is this different?
It is a soft chew with duck flavour, given like a snack. That is exactly why it exists in this format.
Joints Advanced →
Can I give both formulas at once?
Not necessary — Advanced already contains the base. Choose one of the two and respect the daily dose by weight.
Why is the pack bigger?
It is 120 chews (420 g) instead of 90 (315 g). Large dogs take 3 to 4 a day, so the pack was sized to last about a month at that dose.
What does "undenatured" mean?
It means the collagen has not been through the heat or processing that breaks its three-dimensional structure. It is a different raw material from the hydrolysed collagen used in powders.
Digestion →
Can I give it during antibiotic treatment?
Talk to your vet about the right timing. Use after finishing the course is often recommended, but that decision belongs to the clinician following the case.
Do I need to refrigerate it?
No. Store in a cool, dry place away from light, with the pack well closed.
My dog has food allergies. Can I give it?
The base is pea protein with hydrolysed turkey liver. Check the composition list above against your dog's known allergies and, if in doubt, confirm with your vet.
Skin & Coat →
How long until the coat looks different?
The hair cycle is slow. Continued use for 6 to 8 weeks is the realistic horizon to judge by — not isolated weeks.
My dog's itching is an allergy. Does this fix it?
It is a complementary feed giving nutritional support to the skin, not a treatment for allergies. Persistent itching is a reason for a vet visit — diagnosis comes first.
Does it smell of fish?
It has a salmon flavour, which is precisely what makes most dogs accept it without argument.
Multi 20-in-1 →
If I give Multi, do I still need Joints?
It depends. Multi carries a maintenance dose of glucosamine (6,000 mg/kg). If your dog already has mobility complaints, the Joints formula carries 15,000 mg/kg plus chondroitin and MSM.
My kibble is already complete. Does this make sense?
A complete and balanced food covers a healthy dog's needs. Multi makes more sense with home-cooked food, varied diets, or as additional support — and the decision can be discussed with your vet.
Why is it called 20-in-1?
From the count of active nutrients: 7 vitamins, 4 chelated trace elements, omega-3 EPA and DHA, FOS prebiotics, glucosamine and the rest of the formula's support block.
